Important  
The aid of an additional mechanic is required for the subse‐  
quent work steps.  
– Lift out radiator module from radiator mountings.  
Installing  
Install in reverse order of removal, observing the following:  
– Connect refrigerant lines to condenser/gas cooler ⇒ Heating,  
air conditioning; Rep. gr. 87; Refrigerant circuit; Disconnect‐  
ing refrigerant lines from and connecting to condenser/gas  
cooler.  
– Move bumper carrier back from service position ⇒ General  
body repairs, exterior; Rep. gr. 63; Front bumper; Moving  
bumper carrier to and back from service position.  
Tightening torques  
♦ ⇒ Rep. gr. 19; Assembly overview - radiator/radiator fan

Dismantling and assembling radiator  
module  
Dismantling radiator module  
– Remove radiator module ⇒ Rep. gr. 19; Removing and in‐  
stalling radiator module.  
– Press in retaining tabs -1- for radiator cowl on both sides in  
direction of -arrow A-.

– Pull radiator cowl -2- off radiator upwards in direction of  
-arrow B-.  
– Disconnect air ducts -1- and -2-. To do so, release fasteners  
-arrows-.  
– Also release lower fasteners -3-. Pull air ducts -1- and -2-  
apart.  
Important  
Radiator roller blind -2- must be pulled 15 mm out of fasten‐  
er for condenser/gas cooler to be removed.  
NOTICE  
Risk of damage to material shaft of radiator roller blind.  
– Only pull or push on outside of radiator roller blind frame.  
– Press in retaining tabs -1- for radiator roller blind -2- on both  
sides in direction of -arrow A-.  
– Take hold of outside of radiator roller blind -2- and pull it  
15 mm upwards out of fastener in direction of -arrow B-.

– Press in retaining tabs -1- for condenser/gas cooler on both  
sides in direction of -arrow A- and remove condenser/gas  
cooler -2-.  
– Pull condenser/gas cooler -2- upwards off radiator in direc‐  
tion of -arrow B-.  
– Detach radiator roller blind from radiator.  
Assembling radiator module  
– Bring radiator roller blind -1- into installation position  
-arrows- on radiator -2-, but do not engage radiator roller  
blind yet.  
– Install and engage condenser/gas cooler -2-. Check it is  
securely engaged by pulling at it.

NOTICE  
Risk of damage to material shaft of radiator roller blind.  
– Only pull or push on outside of radiator roller blind frame.  
– Press on outside of frame to press radiator roller blind -1-  
into fastener.  
– Fit air ducts -1- and -2- on radiator and engage them with  
each other -arrows-.  
– Check that lower fastener -3- is seated securely.  
– Fit radiator cowl on radiator and engage.  
– Install radiator module ⇒ Rep. gr. 19; Removing and instal‐  
ling radiator module.  
If control motor for radiator roller blind -V711- was removed and  
installed:  
– Perform control motor for radiator roller blind adaption func‐  
tion using ⇒ Vehicle diagnostic tester ⇒ Rep. gr. 00; Access  
to diagnoses.

If control motor for radiator roller blind -V711- was renewed:  
– Perform control motor for radiator roller blind renewal func‐  
tion using ⇒ Vehicle diagnostic tester ⇒ Rep. gr. 00; Access  
to diagnoses.

Removing and installing radiator cowl  
with radiator fans  
Removing  
– Move impact bar into service position ⇒ General body re‐  
pairs, exterior; Rep. gr. 63; Bumper (front); Moving impact  
bar into service position and resetting.  
CAUTION  
Risk of injury as the radiator fan(s) may start up automatically.  
– When working in the vicinity of the radiator, keep a safe  
distance from the radiator fan.  
– Do not reach into the radiator fan when unplugging the  
electrical connector.  
– Unplug electrical connector for radiator fan -VX57- -arrow-.  
For clarity, the radiator module is removed in the following illus‐  
trations.  
– Press in retaining tabs -1- for radiator cowl -2- on both sides  
in direction of -arrow A-.
