– Suitable personal protective equipment (PPE) must be

– The subsequent work steps must be supervised by an  
additional specialist with appropriate qualification.

ist can support the HVE as required within the scope of his  
or her qualification.

♦ Arc flash resistant clothing (at least APC 2, at least 318 kJ)  
♦ Helmet with arc flash resistant visor (at least APC 2, at least  
318 kJ)  
♦ Arc flash resistant gloves with nitrile glove liners (at least  
APC 2, at least 318 kJ), insulating up to at least 500 V  
♦ Safety shoes with ESD protection  
– ⇒ Rep. gr. 93; Opening high-voltage battery 1 [AX2].  
– ⇒ Rep. gr. 93; Opening electrical circuit, 48, 55 kWh.  
– ⇒ Rep. gr. 93; Charging and discharging battery modules  
– Mark the installation position of the connectors and high-volt‐  
age connecting pieces.  
– Disconnect electrical connector -2-.  
– Fit accidental contact protection insert -T10628--A- onto bat‐  
tery module -1-.  
– Unscrew bolts -3-.  
– Remove high-voltage connector -4-.  
– Fit accidental contact protection -T10608- onto exposed  
high-voltage connection on battery module.  
Important  
Make sure that accidental contact protection -T10608--B- is  
fitted.  
– Fit accidental contact protection insert -T10628--A-.  
– Unscrew bolts -2-.  
– Remove high-voltage connector -3-.  
– Fit accidental contact protection -T10608- onto exposed  
high-voltage connection on battery module.

Important  
The accidental contact protection -T10608--2- must be fitted  
on the exposed high-voltage connections.  
– Unscrew bolts -3-.  
– Unplug electrical connector of the opposite battery modules  
control unit.  
Important  
As soon as the module is raised, renew 2-component ther‐  
mal compound.  
– Prepare support bracket -10-222B--1- and adapter  
-10-222A/14--2-, and position centrally above battery mod‐  
ule.  
– Attach battery module to lifting aid -T10619--3-, shackle  
-10-222A/12--4- and hook -10-222A/10--5-.  
– Lift battery module on outer side upwards in direction of  
-arrow- away from lower part of battery housing until battery  
module is detached from lower part of battery housing.

– Remove support bracket -10-222B--1- and adapter  
-10-222A/14--2-.  
– Attach lifting tackle -3033--B- to workshop hoist -VAS  
6100--A-.  
– Lift out battery module with workshop hoist -VAS 6100--A-,  
lifting aid -T10619--D-, shackle -10-222A/12--C- and lifting  
tackle -3033--B-.  
– Lower battery module onto a clean surface.  
NOTICE  
Leakage of high-voltage battery 1 -AX2- possible.  
– Do not remove 2-component thermal compound from seal‐  
ing compound on inner edge of lower part of battery hous‐  
ing. If there is a bond between the 2-component thermal  
compound and the sealant, leave approx. 3 mm of the  
2-component thermal compound on the sealant.  
– Carefully remove residue of 2-pack thermally conductive  
paste with suitable scraper from removal wedge set -VAS  
895 015- from lower part of battery housing.

If the battery module is reused:  
– Completely remove 2-pack thermally conductive paste from  
battery module.

glove liners (minimum protection class 2, at least 318 kJ),  
minimum insulating effect up to 500 V  
♦ Safety shoes with ESD protection  
Installing battery module  
– Check whether separating foil -2- is present on removed  
battery module and if it is damaged.
