Special tools and workshop equipment required
♦ hook -VW771/37-
♦ multi-purpose tool -VW771-
♦ thrust piece -T10627-
Removing
– Drain gear oil ⇒ Rep. gr. 34; Gear oil; Draining and filling
gear oil.
– Remove right drive shaft ⇒ Running gear, axles, steering;
Rep. gr. 40; Drive shaft; Removing and installing drive shaft.
– Use hook -VW771/37--A- and multi-purpose tool -VW771--B-
to pull seal -arrow- out of gearbox -1-.
Installing
– Half-fill space between sealing lip and dust lip -arrow- with
sealing grease.
Allocate sealing grease according to ⇒ Electronic Parts Cata‐
logue (ETKA).

– Use thrust piece -T10627--C- and thrust piece -T10481--D-
to drive in seal to stop, being careful not to tilt seal.
– Install drive shaft. ⇒ Running gear, axles, steering; Rep.
gr. 40; Drive shaft; Removing and installing drive shaft.
– Fill gear oil ⇒ Rep. gr. 34; Gear oil; Draining and filling gear
oil.
