tions”, page 19 .
The adaptive cruise control system must be calibrated, after the
following work has been performed on the vehicle:
Changes to wheel alignment on rear axle.
Ride height adjustment on one axle by more than 5 mm.
Ride height adjustment on both axles by more than 10 mm.
Removal and installation or renewal of front bumper cover.
After renewal of adaptive cruise control unit -J428-.
– Check sensors, holders and fasteners for damage, manipu‐
lation and secure fit.
– Read and clear event memory using ⇒ Vehicle diagnostic
tester.

If the position of the ACC reflecting mirror -VAS 6430/10-
on alignment beam is changed during the calibration, the
setting of setting device -VAS 6430- must be checked again
(e.g. spirit levels, individual toe values on alignment beam,
etc.).
Preparation
– Observe general ⇒ f4.1 or calibration and surrounding condi‐
tions”, page 19 .
If wheel alignment has just been carried out, the steps
described under “Calibration without preceding wheel align‐
ment” can be disregarded.
– Check sensors, holders and fasteners for damage, manipu‐
lation and secure fit.
Calibration without preceding wheel alignment
– Select program on alignment computer.
– Observe test prerequisites for wheel alignment ⇒ Running
gear, axles, steering; Rep. gr. 44; Wheel alignment; Test
prerequisites.
– Read and clear event memory using ⇒ Vehicle diagnostic
tester.
– Verify whether there is sufficient space between vehicle and
setting device -VAS 6430-.
The distance between the setting device -VAS 6430- and
sensor must be 120 cm ± 2.5 cm.
If there is not enough space, move vehicle backwards onto
wheel alignment platform as required to make space.
– Drive vehicle straight onto wheel alignment platform.
– Move wheels to straight-ahead position.
– Install quick-release clamps to rear wheels.
– Install wheel alignment sensors to quick-release clamps.
– Install ACC reflector mirror -VAS 6430/10- centrally and par‐
allel to setting device -VAS 6430-.
