Special tools and workshop equipment required  
♦ Release tool -T10006A-

Removing  
– For reasons of clarity, the pedal cluster is not shown in the  
illustrations of the following work procedures.  
– First press brake pedal -1- in direction of brake servo, and  
hold it in this position.  
1 - Brake pedal  
2 - Push bar  
3 - Retaining lugs  
4 - Mounting bracket  
A - Release tool -T10006A-  
– Insert release tool -T10006A- -A- , and pull it in direction of  
front seat. When doing this, counterhold on brake pedal -1- .  
At this stage, pedal must not be allowed to move towards  
front seat. This action will press retaining lugs -3- of mount‐  
ing off ball head of plunger rod -2- .  
– Pull release tool -T10006A- -A- and brake pedal -1- together  
towards front seat. When doing this, brake pedal -1- is pulled  
off ball head of push rod -2- .

Connecting brake pedal to brake servo  
– Hold ball head of push rod -2- in front of mounting -1-, and  
push brake pedal in direction of -arrow- towards brake servo.  
The ball head of the push rod must be heard to engage.

– Check engagement by pulling briefly on brake pedal.

Removing and installing brake pedal

Removing and installing brake pedal,  
left-hand drive vehicles  
Removing  
– Remove lower steering column trim ⇒ General body repairs,  
interior; Rep. gr. 68; Compartments/covers; Removing and  
installing lower steering column trim  
– Remove footwell vent on driver side ⇒ Heating, air condition‐  
ing system; Rep. gr. 87; Air duct; Removing and installing  
footwell vent on driver side .  
– Remove crash bar ⇒ General body repairs, interior; Rep.  
gr. 70; Central tube for dash panel; Removing and installing  
crash bar .  
– ⇒ Rep. gr. 46; Separate brake pedal from brake servo .  
– Pull clamping washer -2- off pivot pin -1- .  
– Pull out pivot pin -1- towards right in direction of -arrow- .  
– Remove brake pedal from mounting bracket.  
Installing  
– Renew pivot pin and clamping washer.  
Important  
Do not lubricate or grease the pivot pin. The pivot pin must  
remain dry.  
– Slide pivot pin from right to left through mounting bracket  
and brake pedal.
