Sporadic faults
If only sporadic faults or messages are stored in the event
memory and the customer has no complaints in conjunction
with the electronic vehicle system, clear event memory.
Note
The vehicle must always be delivered to the customer with
event memory cleared.

Boots: inspecting
– Check outer and inner boots -arrows- for leaks and damage.
– Ensure clamps -1- are fitted on boots.

Procedure
Note
♦ Use a dust and pollen filter with at least an activated char‐
coal layer, ideally an additional allergy filter layer.
♦ Pollen, soot, fine dust, unpleasant odours, ozone, nitrogen
oxide and allergies can be filtered out effectively in this way.

Checking charge level of high-voltage battery
Charge level display of high-voltage battery is located in instru‐
ment cluster.
The charge level must be determined for the first time on vehi‐
cle delivery:

Note
♦ The high-voltage battery must be charged to at least 80% at
pre-delivery inspection.
♦ During subsequent service inspections, the high-voltage bat‐
tery will be charged fully only if requested by the customer.
4.18
Maintenance of high-voltage battery
The high-voltage battery maintenance programme includes de‐
termining the battery charge level ⇒ page 43 and, depending on
the test result, the subsequent charging of the battery.
If the charge level display indicates 1/4 or <1/4, the high-volt‐
age battery has to be charged until the charge level display
indicates 1/2 at least.

WARNING
High voltage in electric vehicle's high voltage system.
Risk of electric shock!
– All work on vehicles with high-voltage system must only
be carried out by persons who are at least qualified as
“electrically instructed person (EIP)”.
– Before commencing any work, inspect high voltage com‐
ponents in working area.
– Observe safety notes ⇒ Electric drive; Rep. gr. 00; Safety
notes.
– In the event of conspicuous findings or uncertainties, con‐
tact your responsible high-voltage technician or specialist
electrician!
Carry out visual check
During visual check in motor compartment area, note power
and control electronics for electric drive, high-voltage cables for
battery and air conditioning compressor, high-voltage cable for
electric drive as well as high-voltage charging socket in tank
cap.
During visual check in area of underbody, note high-voltage
battery as well as high-voltage cables for battery.
Pay attention to the following during inspection:
