Removing  
DANGER  
High voltage can cause fatal injury.  
Danger of severe or fatal injuries from electric shock or elec‐  
tric arcs.  
– Have a high-voltage technician (HVT) or a high-voltage  
expert (HVE) de-energise the high-voltage system.  
– ⇒ Rep. gr. 93; De-energise high-voltage system.  
– Remove air intake unit of heater and air conditioning unit  
⇒ Rep. gr. 87; Removing and installing air intake unit of  
heater and air conditioning unit.  
– ⇒ Rep. gr. 19; Cooling system/coolant; Draining coolant  
– Detach clamps -3-, and pull off coolant hoses -2-.  
– Unscrew nut -2-.  
– Remove potential equalisation line -3-.  
– Unclip cable retainers of electrical connectors -5-.  
– Disconnect electrical connectors -1- and -4-.  
– Detach electrical connector -2- from bracket -1-.

– Detach retaining clip -3- of coolant hose -5- from bracket.  
– Unscrew bolts -4-.  
– Remove heater element (PTC) 3 -Z132--1-.  
Installing  
Install in reverse order of removal, observing the following:  
– Observe installation markings on heater element (PTC) 3  
-Z132- and coolant hoses.  
– Check screw connections of potential equalisation line, and  
clean them if necessary ⇒ Electrical system; Rep. gr. 97;  
Cleaning contact surfaces; Cleaning contact surfaces.  
Important  
Contact surfaces must be free of dirt, rust and grease.  
– Connect potential equalisation line -3-, and tighten nut -2-.  
– Connect electrical connectors -1- and -4-.  
– ⇒ Rep. gr. 19; Cooling system/coolant; Filling cooling system  
WARNING  
High voltage can cause fatal injury.  
Danger of severe or fatal injuries from electric shock or elec‐  
tric arcs.  
– Have a high-voltage technician (HVT) or a high-voltage  
expert (HVE) re-energise the high-voltage system.  
– ⇒ Rep. gr. 93; Re-energising high-voltage system.
