Minimum drying times for bonded win‐
dows
Special standards must be adhered to when replacing bonded
windows.
The vehicle is safe to use only after the minimum drying time
has elapsed.
The minimum drying time is the time from bonding in the win‐
dow until the vehicle may be used. During the minimum drying
time, the vehicle must be parked on a level surface at room
temperature (above 15 °C).
2-component window adhesive
The minimum drying time for 2-component window adhesive is
2 hours for all windows.
If 1-component window adhesive is additionally used for re‐
maining work or sealing work, the minimum drying time does
not change.
1-component window adhesive
The minimum drying time for 1-component window adhesive is
6 hours for all windows.
2.2
Window repair
Before the window is repaired, it must be determined whether
repair is possible or whether the window must be renewed.
Damaged windows can be repaired using the windscreen repair
set -VAS 6092A- or window glass polishing set -VAS 861 009-.
Repairs are not possible, when the damage to the glazing ex‐
ceeds a certain size or is at certain locations.
Work instructions are provided with each windscreen repair set
-VAS 6092A- and window glass polishing set -VAS 861 009-.

Note
Don not apply adhesive bead too thick or press glazing too
firmly onto the body flange. Since the glazing no longer has
sealing lips, excessive adhesive will be visible in the joint area.
– Using 2 suction lifters -V.A.G 1344-, insert glazing into win‐
dow aperture, align it to centre and press it in up to spacing
lip.
– Reattach any labels that were attached beforehand.

Special tools and workshop equipment required
♦ contour blade set -VAS 852 005-
♦ scraper set -VAS 861 005-
Note
Glazing without centring pins can be installed. The centring pins

sealant serves as the adhesion base for the new adhesive seal‐
ant to be applied.
Note
Do not damage primer and ceramic coating when cutting back
adhesive sealant.
Note
Keep bonding surface free of dirt and grease.
Note
Do not treat adhesive bead that has just been cut back with
