NOTICE
Risk of damage to paint caused by activator.
– Apply activator precisely onto adhesive bead that has been
cut back, and do not spill any activator.
– Use applicator to apply activator evenly in one pass onto
adhesive bead that has been cut back.

The drying time is approx. 10 minutes.

Preparing new windows for installing
Note
The application area for the adhesive bead is not precoated or
primed.
Note
The sealing lip is included with a new windscreen.
Note
No windows are precoated.
Note
The ceramic layer is not a primer.
– Use cleaning solution to clean edge of window all round to a
width of 20 mm.
– Rub edge of window dry using a lint-free cloth.
– Use applicator -2- to apply primer-3- evenly in one pass.
Note
The drying time is approx. 10 minutes.

Preparing body flange for installing

– Use a scraper -1- from scraper set -VAS 861 005- to cut
back remaining adhesive sealant to 1 to 2 mm shortly before
bonding window back in. Under no circumstances should it
be removed completely.
Note
Remaining material serves as adhesion base for newly applied
adhesive sealing compound.
Note
Make sure not to damage primer layer or paintwork structure.
Note
Keep bonding surface free of dirt and grease.
Note
Do not treat adhesive bead that has just been cut back with
activator, primer or cleaning solution.
Note
If bonding is performed later than one day after cutting back
the adhesive bead, the remaining adhesive sealant must be
activated with activator.
NOTICE

If the body flange has been repaired or partially renewed, clean
and prime corresponding area again after painting.
– Clean body flange all around using cleaning solution.
– Rub edge of window dry using a lint-free cloth.
– Use applicator to apply primer evenly in one pass onto paint.
Note
If laser weld seams are not in the area of the adhesive bead,
the exposed laser weld seams must be sealed with window
adhesive before the glazing is bonded in.
– If laser weld seam -3- on body flange -4- is not covered by
existing adhesive bead -2-, coat laser weld seam -3- with
primer -1-.

– Fill weld seam -3- with window adhesive.
Touching up paint damage
– If the paint is damaged, the paintwork structure must be
restored according to specifications in the “Paint” workshop
manual.
2.7
Cleaning off excess adhesive
Note

182 .
Note
When cleaning the vehicle interior, do not push window out‐
wards that had just been installed. Otherwise, the window will
be detached.
– Clean painted surface as well as possible using a dry cloth.
– Remove remaining contamination using cleaning agent.
Note
Use adhesive remover as cleaning agent.
– Cleaning plastic trim: Allow adhesive sealant to cure (ap‐
prox. 1 hour) and then peel off.
