Removing and installing lock carrier
Removing
– Deactivate vehicle’s drive system, and switch off all electrical
consumers.
– Store the vehicle key and other entry and start authorisation
systems outside the vehicle to prevent the vehicle from be‐
ing switched on unintentionally.
– Remove front bumper cover ⇒ Rep. gr. 63; Removing and
installing bumper cover.
– Support bonnet with suitable workshop equipment.
– Remove anti-vibration brace ⇒ a2.3 nd installing anti-vibra‐
tion brace”, page 4 .
– Remove radiator bracket -10-.

– Detach filler neck -2- of washer fluid reservoir from lock car‐
rier -1-.
– Detach Bowden cable -3- ⇒ Rep. gr. 55; Removing and
installing Bowden cable.
– Unscrew bolts -4-, -5-, -6- and -7-.
– Disconnect electrical connector for bonnet contact switch
-F266--8-.
– Swing out lock carrier -1- in direction of -arrow A- from un‐
derneath tabs -9-.
– Remove lock carrier -1- in direction of -arrow B-.
Installing
Install in reverse order of removal, observing the following:
– Swing lock carrier -1- in direction of -arrow A- under tabs
-2-. When doing this, push radiator -3- slightly in direction of
-arrow B-.
Tightening torques

Removing and installing anti-vibration
brace
Removing
– Unscrew bolts -2-.
– Remove anti-vibration brace -1-.
Installing
Install in reverse order of removal, observing the following:

Removing
– Remove lock carrier ⇒ Rep. gr. 50; Removing and installing
lock carrier.
– Remove bumper carrier ⇒ Rep. gr. 63; Removing and instal‐
ling bumper carrier.
– Deactivate vehicle’s drive system, and switch off all electrical
consumers.
– Store the ignition key and other entry and start authorisation
systems outside the vehicle to prevent the vehicle from be‐
ing switched on unintentionally.
– Disconnect electrical connector for crash sensor for front air‐
bag -G190- and front airbag crash sensor for front passen‐
ger side -G284-.
– Pull off clamping washer -1-.

– Unscrew nut -2-.
– Remove lock carrier support -3-.
Installing
Install in reverse order of removal, observing the following:
– Read and clear event memory using ⇒ Vehicle diagnostic
tester.
Vehicles with front overhead view camera -R243-
– Calibrate front overhead view camera -R243- ⇒ Driver assist
systems; Rep. gr. 98; Overhead view camera; Calibrating
overhead view camera.
