Removing and installing door
Special tools and workshop equipment required
♦ wedge -T10383/1-
Removal and installation are described for the left side of vehi‐
cle as an example.
Removing
– Deactivate vehicle’s drive system, and switch off all electrical
consumers.
– Store the vehicle key and other entry and start authorisation
systems outside the vehicle to prevent the vehicle from be‐
ing switched on unintentionally.
– Push in wedge -T10383/1--2- in direction of -arrow A- be‐
tween boot -4- and locking element -3-.
– Use wedge -T10383/1--2- to push locking element -3- in
direction of -arrow B-, and disconnect electrical connector
-4- in direction of -arrow C-.
– Loosen threaded pins -1-.

– Unscrew bolt -3-
NOTICE
Risk of damage to the corrosion protection measures due to
scratches.
The door arrester can damage the paint when lifting the door
out and in.
– Push door arrester into door.
– Push door arrester -2- inwards in direction of -arrow A- into
door -1-.
– Lift out door -1- in direction of -arrow A- by detaching upper
sections of hinges -2-.

Installing
Install in reverse order of removal, observing the following:
NOTICE
Risk of damage to the corrosion protection measures due to
scratches.
The door arrester can damage the paint when lifting the door
out and in.
– Push door arrester into door.
– Prior to fitting the door, fold the door arrester mounting in‐
wards to avoid damage to the paint.
Important
•
After fitting the door, the upper and lower hinge sections
must be flush with each other.
– Read and clear event memory using ⇒ Vehicle diagnostic
tester.
– ⇒ Rep. gr. 58; Adjust door.
– Perform functional check.

Preparation
Important
•
The vehicle must be standing on its wheels to ensure proper
adjustment of the door.
•
The door must engage in the striker pin without excessive
force.

The door is correctly adjusted when the following applies in
closed condition:
♦ The gaps are even all around.
♦ The contours are flush with each other.
♦ The door does not protrude too far inwards or outwards.
The procedure is described for the left side of vehicle as an
example.
Adjusting shut lines
– Remove lower B-pillar trim ⇒ General body repairs, interior;
Rep. gr. 70; Trims, interior; Removing and installing B-pillar
trim.
– Loosen bolts -1-, -2-, -3- and -4-.
Adjusting flushness
– Use door alignment tool -3320- with corresponding socket to
loosen bolts -1- and -2-.

– Verify gaps using setting gauge -3371-. Observe ⇒ Body
Repairs; Rep. gr. 00; Body panel gaps/shut lines; Body –
centre, when doing this.
⇒ Rep. gr. 57; Adjust striker pin.
After removing and installing or adjusting, carry out corrosion
protection measures on hinges and bolts.

Adjusting striker pin
Special tools and workshop equipment required
♦ setting gauge -3371-
The adjustment procedure is described for the left side of vehi‐
cle as an example.
The arch outside of the threaded plate is welded firmly to the
pillar. The webs to the threaded plate are plastically deformable.
Important
•
The vehicle must be standing on its wheels to ensure proper
adjustment of the striker pin.
•
The door must engage in the striker pin without excessive
force.
The striker pin is correctly adjusted when the following applies
in closed condition:
♦ The gaps are even all around.
♦ The contours are flush with each other.
♦ The door does not protrude too far inwards or outwards.
– Loosen bolts -2-.
Note
Increased forces must be applied so that striker pin can be
adjusted with bolts loosened.
– Push striker pin -1- in direction of -arrow A- or -arrow B-.
– Tighten bolts -2-.
– Verify gaps using setting gauge -3371-. Observe ⇒ Body
Repairs; Rep. gr. 00; Body panel gaps/shut lines; Body –
centre, when doing this.
– If the door is not adjusted correctly, loosen striker pin and
⇒ Rep. gr. 58; adjust door.

Removing and installing door hinges
Removing
Removal and installation are described for the left side of vehi‐
cle as an example.
The upper and lower section of the door hinge will henceforth
be referred to as “door hinge”.

•

Upper section of door hinge
– Unscrew bolt -1-
– Remove door hinge -2-.
Lower section of upper door hinge

– Push aside front three-point seat belt.
– Unscrew bolts -1- and -2-.

Removing and installing outer door
seal
Special tools and workshop equipment required
♦ adhesive strip remover -VAS 6349-
♦ punch tool -VAS 895 025-
♦ roller -3356-
♦ seal scissors -VAS 211 011-
Removal and installation are described for the left side of vehi‐
cle as an example.
Removing
– Mark position of outer door seal -1- all around with adhesive
tape -2-.
NOTICE
Risk of damage to component surfaces.
– Mask off B-pillar in area of door arrester using commercial‐
ly available adhesive tape.
– Unscrew bolt -2- of door arrester -1-.
– Gradually stretch outer door seal -1- in direction of -arrow A-,
and pull it off in direction of -arrow B-.

Note
When stretching, the outer door seal becomes loose. The outer
door seal can be removed from the door without leaving any
adhesive residues.
– Pull off outer door seal -1- completely.
Installing
Important
•
If the door has been renewed, position the outer door seal
by using the outer door seal on the opposite side as a tem‐
plate.
– Use adhesive strip remover -VAS 6349- to remove any ad‐
hesive residue from body.
– Clean paint-side adhesive surface with cleaning solution,
and allow it to dry.
The drying time is 5 minutes.
– Mark water drain holes -1- on outer door seal -2-.
♦ Dimension a = 557 mm ± 10 mm
♦ Dimension b = 617 mm ± 10 mm
– Start installing outer door seal -1- below door arrester
-arrow-.

– Gradually pull backing off outer door seal -1-.
– Fir outer door seal -1- according to marking made during
removal.
Important
•
The outer door seal must not be stretched or compressed.
– Use seal scissors -VAS 211 011--2- to simultaneously cut
both ends of outer door seal -1- to size at joint.
– Use roller -3356--2- to press on outer door seal -1- in direc‐
tion of -arrow B-. To do this, press sealing profile in direction
of -arrow A-.
– Allow outer door seal to dry while leaving the door open.

Important
The drying time is at least 30 minutes at room temperature.
•
– Use punch tool -VAS 895 025--3- to punch water drain holes
-1- and -2- at the previously made markings.
Continue installation in reverse order of removal, observing the
following:

Removing and installing inner door
seal
Removal and installation are described for the left side of vehi‐
cle as an example.
For reasons of clarity, the rear door is shown removed.
Removing
– Remove sill panel moulding ⇒ General body repairs, interior;
Rep. gr. 70; Trims, interior; Removing and installing sill pan‐
el moulding.
– Remove any required pillar trims ⇒ General body repairs,
interior; Rep. gr. 70; Trims, interior; Overview of fitting loca‐
tions – trims, interior.
– Pull off inner door seal -1- from body flange -2-.

Installing
NOTICE
When the seal is pulled off, the flanks of the seal can be bent
up, so that the seal no longer provides the required sealing
function at some points.
Water ingress or wind noise may result.
– If the seal has been completely removed, renew the seal.
– If the seal has been pulled of only partially, compress the
seal flanks and install the seal.
– Make sure that adjacent trims are located in the beading of
the seal.
Note
Do not kink vulcanised point -3-.
– Align vulcanised point -3- with threaded connection of door
arrester.
– Start installing door inner seal -1- at top radius -arrow - of
door aperture -2-.
CAUTION
Pyrotechnic components can trigger unintentionally.
Risk of injury.
– Do not use the plastic hammer in the area of the curtain
airbag.
– Use plastic hammer to apply inner door seal.
Continue installation in reverse order of removal.
