Removing and installing badges at
front
Removing
– Remove bumper cover ⇒ Rep. gr. 63; Removing and instal‐
ling bumper cover.
– Disconnect electrical connector.

– Release fasteners -2-.
– Remove front badge -1- in direction of -arrow-.
Installing
Install in reverse order of removal, observing the following:
Vehicles with overhead view camera
– Calibrate overhead view camera ⇒ Driver assist systems;
Rep. gr. 98; Overhead view camera; Calibrating overhead
view camera.
9.3
Renewing badge at rear
The badge at the rear cannot be removed without being dam‐
aged.
– Remove centre tail light cluster -MX13- ⇒ Electrical system;
Rep. gr. 94; Tail light clusters; Removing and installing cen‐
tre rear tail light cluster [MX13].
– Insert scraper -3- between badge at rear -1- and centre tail
light cluster -MX13--2-.
– Lever off badge at rear -1- in direction of -arrow-.
Installing
Install in reverse order of removal, observing the following:
Important
•
Make sure that the vehicle, lettering and badges are at room
temperature.
Important
•
The bonding surfaces must be free of dirt and grease.
– Clean bonding surface on centre tail light cluster -MX13-,
and allow it to dry.

Do not remove protective backing until immediately before in‐
stallation.
– Fit badge at rear, and push it on until it can be heard to
engage.
9.4
Renewing lettering at rear
Special tools and workshop equipment required
♦ adhesive strip remover -VAS 6349-
♦ hot air blower -V.A.G 1416-
Removing
Bonded lettering cannot be removed without being damaged.
– Use hot air blower -V.A.G 1416- to heat up lettering, and
remove lettering.
– Use adhesive remover and adhesive strip remover -VAS
6349- to remove any adhesive residue from vehicle.
Installing
Important
•
Make sure that the vehicle and lettering are at room temper‐
ature.
Important
•
The bonding surfaces must be free of dirt and grease.
– Clean bonding surface on vehicle, and allow it to dry.
Do not remove protective backing until immediately before in‐
stallation.
– Fit lettering at rear -1-, taking into account the specified di‐
mensions:
3 - Centre line
a - Side dimension = 47.5 ±1 mm
b - Height dimension = 65 ±1 mm
– Push on lettering at rear -1-.

Allow vehicle to stand for at least 30 minutes at room tem‐
perature.
9.5
Renewing lettering and badges on
sides
Special tools and workshop equipment required
♦ adhesive strip remover -VAS 6349-
♦ hot air blower -V.A.G 1416-
Removing
Removal and installation are described for the left side of vehi‐
cle as an example.
Bonded lettering and badges cannot be removed without being
damaged.
– Use hot air blower -V.A.G 1416- to heat up lettering, and
remove lettering.
– Use adhesive remover and adhesive strip remover -VAS
6349- to remove any adhesive residue from vehicle.
Installing
Important

Make sure that the vehicle, lettering and badges are at room
temperature.
Important

The bonding surfaces must be free of dirt and grease.
– Clean bonding surface on vehicle, and allow it to dry.
Do not remove protective backing until immediately before in‐
stallation.
– Fit lettering at wing -1-, taking into account the specified
dimensions:
a - Height dimension = 11 mm
b - Side dimension = 0 ±0.5 mm
Vehicles with lettering on door
– Fit door lettering -2- so that it is flush with wing lettering -1-,
taking into account the specified dimensions:
c - Side dimension = 0 ±0.5 mm
Continued for all vehicles
– Push on lettering.
