Removing and installing front door win‐
dow
Special tools and workshop equipment required
♦ high-voltage tool kit -VAS 6762-
♦ removal wedge -3409-
Removal and installation are described for the left side of vehi‐
cle as an example.
Removing
– Remove front door trim ⇒ General body repairs, interior;
Rep. gr. 70; Front door trims; Removing and installing front
door trim.
– Use removal wedge -3409- to lever out caps -3-.

– Lower door window -1- until clamping jaws of window regula‐
tor -5- become accessible through opening.
If the work step is not possible owing to a fault in the window
regulator motor, remove the window regulator motor ⇒ Rep.
gr. 57; Removing and installing window regulator motor, and
push the door window into the required working position.
– Guide screwdriver -4- from high-voltage tool kit -VAS 6762-
through openings in assembly carrier -2- and door window
-1- to door window mounting.
– Turn screwdriver -4- 90° in direction of -arrow A-, and push
it in direction of -arrow B- into locking devices on clamping
jaws of window regulator -5-, until they are released.
– Slightly lift door window -1- in direction of -arrow C- to pre‐
vent it from falling back into locking devices.
– Pull door window -1- upwards out of window regulator -3-.
– Lift door window -1- at rear, and swing it out of window
channel -2- in direction of -arrow-.

Installing
– Swing door window -1- in direction of -arrow- into window
channels -2-.
Important
•
Ensure that the door window is properly inserted in the win‐
dow channel.
– Guide door window -1- without force into clamping jaws of
window regulator.
– Align door window -1- with rear window frame.
– Push door window -1- onto clamping jaws of window regula‐
tor -2- until door window -1- can be heard to engage.
Further installation is carried out in reverse order of removal.
Observe the following:
– Test function before fitting door trim.

Removing and installing rear door win‐
dow

Removal and installation are described for the left side of vehi‐
cle as an example.
Removing
– Remove rear door trim ⇒ General body repairs, interior; Rep.
gr. 70; Rear door trims; Removing and installing rear door
trim.
– Use removal wedge -3409- to lever cap -5- out of assembly
carrier -2-.
– Lower door window -1- until spreader rivet -3- and spreader
plug -4- are accessible in cut-out of window regulator -6-.
If the work step is not possible owing to a fault in the window
regulator motor, remove the window regulator motor ⇒ Rep.
gr. 58; Removing and installing window regulator motor, and
push the door window into the required working position.
– Use -T10615/2- to pull spreader rivet -3- out of spreader
plug -4-.
– Use -T10615/1- to pull spreader plug -4- out of window regu‐
lator guide -6-.
Make sure that the spreader plug -4- does not fall into the door.
– Remove B-pillar trim on rear door ⇒ a3.11.2 nd installing
B-pillar trim on rear door”, page 228 .
– Pull front section of window channel -2- out of mounting.

– Pull door window -1- in direction of -arrow- towards vehicle
exterior and out of window slot.
Installing
– With door window -1- removed, insert spreader plug -4-
making sure it is centred properly.
– Press spreader pin -3- flush into spreader plug -4-.
– Insert door window -1- in direction of -arrow- into door, and
push it into slot of window regulator guide.
– Let door window -1- engage in window regulator -2- applying
light pressure from above.
Continue installation in reverse order of removal, observing the
following:
– Test function before fitting door trim.

Removing
– Remove front door trim ⇒ General body repairs, interior;
Rep. gr. 70; Front door trims; Removing and installing front
door trim.
– Remove window channel ⇒ Rep. gr. 57; Removing and in‐
stalling window channel.
– Lever off plug -5-.
– Unscrew bolt -4-
– Pull seal off flange.
– Push fixed door window -1- slightly in direction of -arrow A-,
and use release tool -T10236--6- to unclip clips -2- one after
the other.
– Pull fixed door window -1- in direction of -arrow B- out of
door -3-.
Installing
– Guide fixed door window -1- with web in direction of
-arrow A- into door -4-.

– Push fixed door window -1- in direction of -arrow B- against
door -4- until clips -2- can be heard to engage.
– Tighten bolt -5-.
– Fold seal -3- around flange.
– Fit plug -6-.
Continue installation in reverse order of removal, observing the

– Unscrew bolt -6-
– Pull seal -2- off flange.
– Push fixed door window -1- slightly in direction of -arrow A-,
and use release tool -T10236--3- to unclip clips -5- one after
the other.
– Pull fixed door window -1- in direction of -arrow B- out of
door -4-.
Installing
– Guide fixed door window -1- with web in direction of
-arrow A- into door -4-.
– Push fixed door window in direction of -arrow B- against
door -4- until clips -2- can be heard to engage.
– Tighten bolt -5-.
– Fold seal -3- around flange.
– Fit cap -6-.
Continue installation in reverse order of removal, observing the
