The removal kit for flush bonded windows -V.A.G 1474B- or
removal kit for flush bonded windows -VAS 6452- may also be
used.
Removing
– Remove upper A-pillar trim on left and right ⇒ General body
repairs, interior; Rep. gr. 70; Trims, interior; Removing and
installing A-pillar trim.
– Remove left and right sun visors ⇒ General body repairs,

sun visor.

Risk of damage to component surfaces.
– Mask off surrounding components in the visible area with
commercially available adhesive tape.
– Mask off exit area -arrow- of awl -1- at body flange with
adhesive tape.
– In this area, pierce awl -1- through adhesive bead from in‐
side towards outside, and pull through cutting cord -VAS 861
001/1A--2- towards outside.
– Lay cutting cord -VAS 861 001/1A--1- under windscreen all
around.
– Use threading aid -1- from windscreen removal set -VAS
861 001A- to insert cutting cord -VAS 861 001/1A--2- under
cover profile.
– Secure -arrow- outer end of cutting cord -VAS 861
001/1A--1- to right hinge -2-.

– Secure removal device with reel device -1- to inner side of
window at bottom left.
– Insert cutting cord -VAS 861 001/1A--3- in reel device
-arrow-.
– Use reel device to tension cutting cord -VAS 861 001/1A--3-.
– Insert cut-out protector -2- from windscreen removal set -
VAS 861 001A- between cutting cord -VAS 861 001/1A--3-
and dash panel trim.
– Use cutting cord -VAS 861 001/1A--1- to cut free lower sec‐
tion of windscreen.
– Move removal device -1- to upper left corner of windscreen.
– Use cutting cord -VAS 861 001/1A--1- to cut free area at left

– Use two suction lifters to lift windscreen out of vehicle.
Installing

ling.

Continue installation in reverse order of removal, observing the
following:
