Note
Door control unit -J386-/door control unit -J387- is separated
from motor for window regulator -V147-/motor for window regu‐
lator -V148-.
Note
The motor for window regulator -V147- and motor for window
regulator -V148- will henceforth be referred to as “window regu‐
lator motor”.
Removing

– Tape up door window to prevent it from sliding down.
– Deactivate vehicle’s drive system, and switch off all electrical
consumers.
– Store the vehicle key and other entry and start authorisation
systems outside the vehicle to prevent the vehicle from be‐
ing switched on unintentionally.
– Disconnect electrical connector -3-.
– Unscrew bolts -2-.
– Remove window regulator motor -1-.
Installing
– Fit window regulator motor -1- onto mountings of cable drum
-2-. Move door window up and down slightly so that the
splines between window regulator motor -1- and cable drum
engage more easily.
– Connector electrical connector -3-.
Continue installation in reverse order of removal, observing the
following:
– Use ⇒ Vehicle diagnostic tester to code new window regula‐
tor motors.

Removing and installing striker pin

Removing
– Unscrew bolts -2-.

Installing
– Fit striker pin -1- on B-pillar -3- with the curvature facing
inwards.
– Tighten bolts -2-.

Removing
– Remove front door trim ⇒ General body repairs, interior;

– Remove door subframe ⇒ Rep. gr. 57; Removing and instal‐
ling door subframe.
Vehicles with keyless entry system
– Disconnect electrical connector.
All vehicles (continued)
– Remove lock cylinder ⇒ Rep. gr. 57; Removing and installing
lock cylinder.
– Unscrew bolts -3-, and lower the door lock -1- towards the
ground.

– Turn eccentric -2- 180° in direction of -arrow-.
On the right side of the vehicle, the eccentric must be turned
anti-clockwise.
– Press and hold rocker switch -2- through assembly opening.
– Slide sliding plate -1- to stop in direction of -arrow-.
– Swing out door handle -1- in direction of -arrow-, and re‐
move it.
Installing
Install in reverse order of removal, observing the following:
– Push on sliding plate until it can be heard to engage.
– Perform functional check with the door open.
– Read and clear event memory using ⇒ Vehicle diagnostic
tester.

The door window must be closed for subsequent work.
Removing

– Remove assembly carrier ⇒ Rep. gr. 57; Removing and in‐
stalling assembly carrier.
For driver door
– Remove lock cylinder ⇒ a3.14 nd installing lock cylinder”,
page 91 .
Vehicles with keyless entry authorisation system
– Release mounting bracket ⇒ Rep. gr. 57; Removing and
installing mounting bracket.

– Disconnect electrical connectors.
– Unscrew bolts -1-.

– Remove door lock together with mounting bracket.

Bowden cables can be detached if this is necessary for subse‐
quent work.
Releasing Bowden cable to interior door handle:
– Open cover -3- in direction of -arrow A-.
– Turn Bowden cable -2- 90° in direction of -arrow B-, and
swing it out of retainer direction of -arrow C-.
– Swing around Bowden cable -2- until Bowden cable -2-
can be guided out of eyelet in door lock -1- in direction of
-arrow D-.
Releasing Bowden cable to mounting bracket:
– Turn Bowden cable -2- 90° in direction of -arrow A-, and
remove it from retainer.

– Swing Bowden cable -2- in direction of -arrow B- until Bow‐
den cable -2- can be guided out of eyelet in door lock -1- in
direction of -arrow C-.
Installing
Install in reverse order of removal, observing the following:
– Perform functional check with door open.
If the Bowden cables are not adjusted and engaged correctly, it
won’t be possible to unlock the door lock and open the door.

Removing and installing assembly car‐
rier
The window regulator and driver side window regulator motor
-V147- / front passenger side window regulator motor -V148-
are secured to the assembly carrier.
Assembly carrier and window regulator are connected to each
other, non-detachable.
Removal and installation are described for the left side of vehi‐
cle as an example.
Removing
– Remove front door trim ⇒ General body repairs, interior;
Rep. gr. 70; Front door trims; Removing and installing front
door trim.
– Lever off caps -2-.

– Detach door window -5- from window regulator ⇒ Rep.
gr. 64; Removing and installing front door window.
– Push door window -5- upwards, and secure it with adhesive
tape to prevent it from falling down.
A crash sensor is fitted to the assembly carrier.
– Disconnect battery earth wire ⇒ Electrical system; Rep.
gr. 27; Battery; Disconnecting and connecting battery.
– Disconnect electrical connectors.
– Unclip electrical wires.
– Unscrew bolts -3-.
– Turn clips -6- 90° in direction of -arrow D-, and pull them out
slightly.
– Guide Bowden cable with grommet -4- in direction of
-arrow A- out of assembly carrier -1-.
– Push assembly carrier -1- slightly in direction of -arrow B-.
– Pull assembly carrier -1- in direction of -arrow C- out of door.
Installing
– Insert assembly carrier -1- in direction of -arrow A- into door.

– Pull Bowden cable with grommet -4- through opening in as‐
sembly carrier -1-.
Ensure proper seating of grommet.
– Firmly press assembly carrier -1- onto door until seal makes
contact.
– Push clips -6- into assembly carrier -1-, and turn them 90° in
direction of -arrow B-.
– Tighten bolts -3-.
– Secure door window -5- to window regulator ⇒ Rep. gr. 64;
Removing and installing front door window.
– Connect electrical connectors.
– Install caps -2-.
Continue installation in reverse order of removal, observing the
following:
– Test function before fitting door trim.

Removing
– Remove inner window slot seal ⇒ Rep. gr. 57; Removing
and installing inner window slot seal.
– Remove outer window slot seal ⇒ Rep. gr. 57; Removing
and installing outer window slot seal.
– Remove B-pillar trim ⇒ Rep. gr. 66; Removing and installing
B-pillar trim on door.
– Peel sealing lip of window channel -1- from inside in direc‐
tion of -arrow A- off door flange -2-.

– Pull window channel -1- in direction of -arrow B- out of
mountings in door.
– Pull window channel -1- in direction of -arrow D- evenly off
door flange -2- all around, making sure that window channel
is not bent.
Installing
NOTICE
Uneven fit and poor contact after installing window channel.
Wind noise possible.
– Ensure that item is seated and comes into contact correct‐
ly when aligning and installing.
– Spray window channel with soapy water to facilitate installa‐
tion.
– Push window channel -1- in direction of -arrow A- into
mountings in door.
– Centre window channel -1-, and push it in direction of
-arrow B- onto door flange -2-.

– Push window channel -1- behind locking device -3- of front
side window -4-, and engage front side window -4-.
– Fit sealing lip of window channel -1- from inside in direction
of -arrow C- onto door flange -2-.

Removing
– Remove front door trim ⇒ General body repairs, interior;
Rep. gr. 70; Front door trims; Removing and installing front
door trim
– Lever inner window slot seal -1- in direction of -arrow A-
evenly off flange -2- without bending or distorting it.
Installing
– Centre inner window slot seal -1- -arrows B-, and push it
onto door flange -2- evenly by hand in direction of -arrow A-.

– Insert wedge “no. 3”-4- from removal wedge set -VAS 895
015- between outer window slot seal -1- and B-pillar trim -2-.

NOTICE
Risk of damage to outer window slot seal due to incorrect
removal.
If the metal core in the outer window slot seal is bent, the
window slot seal can no longer be straightened out. It will
remain “wavy”.
– Pull off the outer window slot seal evenly, without bending
or distorting it.
– Use wedge -T10039/1--5- to lever outer window slot seal -1-
in direction of -arrow A- evenly off door flange -3-.
Installing
The use of assembly aid is allowed.
– Centre outer window slot seal -1- on door flange -2-
-arrows A-, and align it with B-pillar -3-.
Important
•
The outer window slot seal must not be installed using im‐
pact tools.
NOTICE
Risk of damage to outer window slot seal due to incorrect
installation.
If the metal core in the outer window slot seal is bent, the
window slot seal can no longer be straightened out. It will
remain “wavy”.
– Push on the outer window slot seal evenly, without bend‐
ing or distorting it.
– Push outer window slot seal -1- in direction of -arrow B- onto
door flange -2- evenly by hand.

Removing and installing lock cylinder
The lock cylinder is only installed on the driver side.
Removing
– Remove cap from door handle ⇒ Rep. gr. 57; Removing and

– Lever off cap -5-.
– Unscrew bolt -4- as far as stop.
– Press in bolt -4- with locking element -3- in direction of
-arrow A-.
Lock cylinder -1- is now released.
– Remove lock cylinder -1- in direction of -arrow B- from
mounting bracket -2-.
Installing
Install in reverse order of removal, observing the following:

Removing and installing cap on door
handle
The cap is only installed on the driver-side door handle.
The cap on door handle will henceforth be referred to as “cap”.
Removing
NOTICE
Risk of damage to component surfaces.
– Do not turn the screwdriver.
– Do not make any levering movements with the screwdriv‐
er.
– Carefully push a small screwdriver -3- in direction of
-arrow A- into opening on underside of cap -1-.
– Use screwdriver -1- to carefully unclip cap -3-.
