8.4.1  
Removing and installing interface for  
entry and start system [J965], left-hand  
drive vehicles  
The interface for entry and start system -J965- will henceforth  
be referred to as “interface for entry and start system”.  
If the interface for entry and start system unit is renewed, per‐  
form the test plan for the renewal of the interface for entry and  
start system using ⇒ Vehicle diagnostic tester.  
Removing  
– Remove driver side footwell cover ⇒ General body repairs,  
interior; Rep. gr. 68; Compartments/covers; Removing and  
installing driver side footwell cover.  
– Disconnect electrical connector -2-.

– Release locking lug -3-.  
– Swing out interface for entry and start system -1- in direction  
of -arrow A-.  
Installing  
Install in reverse order of removal, observing the following:  
– The entry and start authorisation control unit must be heard  
to engage.  
– If the interface for entry and start system unit has been  
renewed, conclude the test plan for the renewal of the inter‐  
face for entry and start system using ⇒ Vehicle diagnostic  
tester.

Removing and installing interface for  
entry and start system [J965], right-  
hand drive vehicles  
The interface for entry and start system -J965- will henceforth  
be referred to as “interface for entry and start system”.  
If the interface for entry and start system unit is renewed, per‐  
form the test plan for the renewal of the interface for entry and  
start system using ⇒ Vehicle diagnostic tester.  
Removing  
– Remove footwell vent on driver side ⇒ Heating, air condition‐  
ing system; Rep. gr. 87; Air duct system; Removing and  
installing footwell vent on driver side.  
– Unscrew bolts -2-.  
– Remove interface for entry and start system -1- until electri‐  
cal connector is accessible.  
– Disconnect electrical connector -3-.  
– Remove interface for entry and start system -1-.

Installing  
Install in reverse order of removal, observing the following:  
– If the interface for entry and start system unit has been  
renewed, conclude the test plan for the renewal of the inter‐  
face for entry and start system using ⇒ Vehicle diagnostic  
tester.  
Tightening torques

Removing and installing entry and start  
authorisation aerial [R200]/[R201]  
The left aerial for entry and start authorisation -R200- and right  
entry and start authorisation aerial -R201- will henceforth be  
referred to as “aerial”.  
Removal and installation are described for the left vehicle side  
as an example.  
Removing  
– Remove front wheel housing liner ⇒ General body repairs,  
exterior; Rep. gr. 66; Wheel housing liner; Removing and  
installing front wheel housing liner.  
– Disconnect electrical connector -1-.  
– Release locking lugs -2- using an 8 mm socket.  
– Remove aerial -3-.  
Installing  
Install in reverse order of removal, observing the following:  
Tightening torques  
♦ ⇒ General body repairs, exterior; Rep. gr. 66; Wheel housing  
liner; Assembly overview – front wheel housing liner

Rep. gr.94 - Lights, bulbs, switches - exterior
